This cabin which is dominated by glass and wood in a contemporary style is very suitable and supports to be closer to nature
This contemporary style cabin designed by Tom Kundig of Olson Kundig located in the US state of Vermont aims to bring family members closer and closer together. Located in the Stowe region, the area is distinctive for its hiking trails and for skiing. Created as a place to socialize so that a closer relationship can be established, this building was created between a white pine tree and a maple tree. Made from a pallet of steel, wood and concrete components inspired by nature, this residence was created with only 750 square meters of land.
His client ordered his design made in a Vermont cabin for a family with a small and simple family, the Vermont cabin was the place from their childhood to adulthood. Furthermore, the designer fulfills the demands and expectations of the clients by creating an extraordinary place that adopts from the landscape idea. This simple and inexpensive building is perfect for feeling the surrounding natural energy, besides that this not too wide place allows each family member to chat with each other to make a closer relationship.
The concept of three different floors was created by Tom Kundig to separate the interior design. The lowest area is in the interior which functions as a carpot and has other benefits, namely for a play area, a room for rest and also a place to preen. In the middle area there is an area where the house is entered, two zones for rest are not too large and there is a bathroom. And in the uppermost area there is a large gathering room where you can see the view of the mountains around the building.
Materials used in the inner and outer zones are intentionally left unprocessed or refined. The Weathered steel into coatings and the use of wood on the ceiling of the room. The use of stairs made of steel which is outside the residential area connects from the ground floor to the middle and the middle floor to the top. The components of concrete are applied to the cooking area and bathroom, this is really very simple but still looks amazing. As we know, concrete can also capture heat from outside which makes indoor conditions warm. Let’s take a look at some of the cabin photo collections below!
