Texas house applies glass walls
Called the Main Residence and is located in the urban area of Bouldin Creek in Austin. The land area covers 3,271 square meters, built on two magnificent floors equipped with four bedrooms, a workplace, a children’s play area, and a simple courtyard where there is a swimming pool there. This building was built to support a simple and flexible lifestyle. The materials used in this project are very simple, besides that, the connection with the natural environment is so pervasive. The residence is bordered by an opaque fence clad in an array of gray bricks and plastered. The material of bricks with this contour is the result of a mixture that causes color combinations. The square shape of the pavers extends to the hidden front door area.
Inside the interior is a two-story building with glass walls, walls with gray brick and wood textures. The terrace of the house on the second floor can be seen from the surrounding street. The access road is through the conventional front door, the facade, as well as the fence around the building. The concept of the fence is composed of bricks and surrounds the main building but does not go directly to the main gate because it has another function, namely as a privacy protector and also displays the physical character of the building from the street. The interior has a staircase that separates the communal area from the family or private area. On the first floor or downstairs there are several rooms, namely the bed area, the guest zone that is not closed, a place to eat and also a place to cook. in the southern part of this building there is a wall made of glass, this can be opened or closed. This glass wall serves as a liaison with the yard next to the house, a porch for relaxing and also a swimming pool area. The arrangement of the stairs is made of wood leading to the upper second floor. On the second floor, there are two bedrooms, a children’s play zone and also a relaxing place for guests.
The hot weather in Central Texas was a consideration for the architects of this building during the construction process. The designer thought very hard on the concept of the building by minimizing the hot Texas weather conditions. Therefore, the designer made so that not a lot of scorching sunlight enters this area of the house but still gets natural lighting. The window here can also function as a place for oxygen exchange with a cross system.
The building was built with an open concept in each area, this aims to avoid the hot sun in the area. It’s a careful thought. This open concept can reduce the use of lights during the day, besides that it can also maintain coolness without using air conditioning even when entering the hottest month. The designer uses coating materials that are very environmentally friendly. The trees and buildings that are made high around the pool area become a barrier to direct sunlight.
